I’ve seen the light. After a date with this phone case, I’m now a full-blown selfie addict!
Somehow, celebrities and Instagrammers always seem to post perfectly-lit selfies. Meanwhile, the rest of us ask strangers to take a “few” photos at an event, hate the way we look, and then take disgruntled selfies in dark corners, hoping the right filter will make everything better.
Well, the secret’s out! There’s no magical celebrity glow and (probably) no hired lighting assistant. But there IS a phone case with some seriously amazing front lighting! Am I the only one who thinks phones these day are severely lacking in good front lighting and flattering flashes?
While there are many magical phone cases out there, I’ve been trialling the Australian iGlo selfie case. This handy little contraption uses warm LED to bathe your face in soft and flattering lighting for the perfect snap. And (even better!) you can adjust the style and amount of light at the touch of a button. Although, I still haven’t quite found the right situation to use “disco” mode, other than to annoy people or get their attention from across the room.
I never used to bother attempting selfies after dark. These days, however, I’ve been reaching for my phone a little more and showing off my iGlo to the “oohs” and “ahhhs” of friends and onlookers.
After some experimentation, I found that the LED lighting is also great for providing a warm glow for my food snaps at after-hours events. This does mean I need to remove the case so I can use the lighting while taking my photo but it’s totally worth it.
The case can be charged with the same cable as your iPhone, but to be honest I haven’t even needed to charge it yet and I’ve been using it on and off for at least two weeks.
My selfies may not be on par with the celebs (yet), but they can keep their face-altering apps. I’ll be happy taking a perfectly-lit selfie with my iGlo.
