The Luxury Hotel That Is Totally Rocking It In Brisbane

The Luxury Hotel That Is Totally Rocking It In Brisbane

It's a BIG yes in our books!

Contemporary, sexy and uber-cool. No, no, not me you silly duffer. I’m talking about the deluxe 4.5-star property that completes the Eatons Hill Hotel and Accommodation precinct. This is world-class accommodation for both rock stars and concert-goers alike, situated directly within Brisbane’s most loved concert venue. There wouldn’t be too many Brisbane-ites who haven’t seen their favourite band or artist play here, including sell-out performances by Khalid, Post Malone, Prince, The Living End, Hilltop Hoods, eternal favourite Jimmy Barnes, and many others. It’s no wonder they’ve taken out numerous awards over the years, including most recently, Australia’s Best Entertainment Venue at both the Australian Hotel Awards and the Queensland Hotel Awards in 2018.

Personally, I think the hotel should have a five-star rating, so I’m adding .5 to represent the rock ‘star’ element of this outstanding property. Here’s my review, broken down by, umm, song title ... (what else?!).

Easy - Lionel Ritchie

My family and I arrive at the hotel on a Saturday afternoon to check in. It’s No. 1 son’s birthday and he’s flown up from Sydney so we can go see the Fat Freddy’s Drop concert together. We arrive by car, but it’s good to note that there’s a chopper pad for next time. The hotel's position is just magic – right next door to the renowned Eatons Hill Hotel. We literally only have to walk out of the lobby and across the driveway to get to and from the gig. No tackling the crowds and waiting for Ubers.

Also attached to the hotel is a supermarket, bottle shop, chemist, massage spot, nail boutique, and various eateries - so it’s super convenient to grab a toothbrush, and pre-party beers and snacks. Everything is easy. Like a Saturday afternoon before a gig.

All The Small Things – Blink 182

Sure, your average rock star expects top quality facilities and service, however you don’t have to be a rock star to receive first-class treatment here. The hotel team is friendly, experienced and they anticipate your every need, under the guidance of General Manager Murray Rowbotham. Whatever you need, just ask and they’ll sort it.

Owners, The Comisky Group, have put convenience and luxury to the forefront when developing the accommodation for their entertainment precinct. The architecture is stunning and the decor perfectly glamorous. With several casual dining options, function spaces, bars and a nightclub available, you can simply charge everything directly back to your room. It’s these small things that make your stay so seamless and enjoyable.

Art for Art’s Sake - 10CC

Actually, it definitely wasn’t a case of art for art’s sake, but I couldn’t find a better arty song title. Australian artist Andrew OBrien was commissioned to create the impressive collection of artworks throughout the hotel. The hotel involved Andrew in the earliest stages with reference to the architecture and interiors, so every piece has been thoughtfully considered and curated - providing unity and coherence and contributing to the stunning end result.

Andrew’s love of colour is evident. All of his works are inspired by "abstracted landscapes, particularly of outback Queensland," and he explains, "how the briefest moments of beauty can transport you somewhere beyond your everyday". But it’s the major artwork at reception that is completely compelling. It is a breathtaking pink painting that I find at first invigorating, and then calming. It is also the largest piece that Andrew has ever completed, “the entry piece is in reference to the struggle of human interventions in the landscape. The idea that as much as you try to tame it, bend or shape to your will, its presence is too unforgiving. The landscape in all its majestic power and foreboding is inherently beautiful. Underlying this is that here, in the hotel, is a sense of peace”.

Andrew said the project was a year in the making, and for the next 24 hours, we enjoy seeing his magnificent art everywhere we turn.

Gold Digger – Kanye West

The elevators are gold. That’s all - sleek, sexy and gold!

Long View – Green Day

One of my favourite aspects of the hotel was stepping out of the lifts onto our floor level. The surrounds feel glamorous and seductive - with dark carpet and walls, beams of low light and more vibrant artwork popping off the walls. As you walk to your room, the hallways really set the tone for an indulgent stay. However, it was on opening the door to our room that really blew me away. Through a huge glass window, we could see the whole outdoor venue and watch the roadies setting up. It was fascinating and a real behind-the-scenes birds-eye view. How good!

When you book, ask for a room overlooking the concert venue. This is THE position to be as you sip on a pre-concert drink in your room and watch the band do their sound checks. We’re super pumped as we watch the crowd below us swell and the music gets louder as the support band warms everyone up. It’s a cracker way to start the night. We all stayed in King rooms - which were really spacious, with large bathrooms and as I said, a brilliant view of the venue.

In true rock star style, there are various accommodation types, including the luxurious King Deluxe, Corner Suite and Sky Penthouse to choose from.

Breakfast in Bed – Chrissie Hyne and UB40

Yes, you can have breakfast in bed, however we joined other concert-goers the next morning and opted for breakfast in the restaurant downstairs - an open, light-filled space with an à la carte menu or a continental buffet to choose from. Love the honeycomb BTW! You could tell everyone had had a fantastic night (some with sore heads), but most were relaxed and happily talking about their ‘big’ night.

If you’re planning to see your favourite headbanger or crooner, the Eatons Hill Hotel is a no-brainer. And if you’re going to a gig at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, the Eatons Hill Hotel is closer than some city accommodation options. So you can continue your rock star experience here! Book in, take it easy, enjoy the gig and now, I’ma finish (unlike Taylor Swift).
