1. Cronut Cone craze is here
This Easter long weekend, Chocolate Komberry Co. launched a Cronut Cone for their ice-cream creations. We were at Eat Street Markets on the day of the launch to trial it. Because doughnut ice-cream cone, that’s why!
2. Have you got the luck of the Irish?
To celebrate the opening of Fortitude Valley’s newest Irish pub, Finn McCools, the venue is giving away a trip for two to Ireland! Finn McCools will open in April to serve good ol’ pub grub and beer, with a laneway bar attached called “The Causeway” open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
3. Rainbow cheesecake. Rainbow. Cheescake.
Look, we were pretty sad that Brisbane didn’t have any of the rainbow bagels the internet has been going nuts about. But then we heard that Chester Street Bakery launched RAINBOW CHEESECAKE. It is a baked cheesecake with whipped white chocolate ganache and white chocolate curls. Word is they're working on a partnering ice-cream cake too!
4. Meet Uncle Bia Hoi
There’s a new Vietnamese hotspot in Fortitude Valley with hanging festooned lanterns, quirky Vietnamese art and an open timber deck. Claiming to be Australia’s first Bia Hoi (Vietnamese beer café). Uncle Bia Hoi serves delicious, authentic Vietnamese street food such as vermicelli salad, rice paper rolls, bah mi and pho, with a chef’s pick grazing platter for those who can’t decide.
5. We're mad for meringues
These meringue kisses are almost too pretty to eat! Key word: almost. Lucid Sweets’ Artisian meringues and pavlovas are colourful, sweet, eye-catching and utterly delicious, and will now be available in their first Brisbane store in Geebung!
6. New cafe offers co-op working spaces
The Letter Lounge Café offers quality coffee and home-style meals with co-op working spaces, meeting rooms and wi-fi! This new Red Hill café is even pet friendly and has a sneaky backyard terrace for alfresco dining.
7. A fresh new look that’s just Darling
After a minor nip and tuck, Darling & Co. in Paddington re-opened with a new-look glamourous feature bar. The interior blends contemporary finishes with retro elements, while the bar is divided by timber framing and hanging plants with a vibrant high ceiling throughout. The new bar is warm and inviting, transitioning seamlessly to the restaurant adjacent, which has also just launched its autumn-inspired menu.
8. Hip Hip Hai-ray for Hai-Hai Ramen
It’s not secret that we love ramen, so we’re pretty excited that a new Japanese ramen bar has just opened on Latrobe Terrace in Paddington. Hai-Hai Ramen keeps it simple with just three main ramen dishes to choose from. And while they do takeaway, they encourage diners to dine in for the ramen best experience.
9. Let Them Eat Le Cake
For more than 20 years we’ve happily indulged on the cakes and desserts from Brisbane’s Le Cake. Because cake. BUT did you know that you can now eat their delicious cakes without having to purchase wholesale? They recently opened a small café in Hendra, called Le Caffe. Get ready to enjoy perfect slices and mini cakes with your morning coffee or afternoon tea. Yummy!

Free Cone Day 2016 | Tuesday, April 12
And it’s not just any free ice-cream – it’s Ben & Jerry’s! Every year they offer FREE cups or cones to their loyal fans. So far there’s only one Brisbane location and two Gold Coast shops participating, but you can stay updated here. More info here.
Milton Markets Launch | Sunday, April 17
There were sad faces all around when the Red Hill Farmers Markets closed down due to development plans on the Fulcher Road site. So we’re super stoked the premium farmers’ market launches at Milton (on Cribb Street) every Sunday from 6am to 12pm from April 17. More info here.
