Surf’s Up! The 2018 Flight Centre Burleigh Pro Is Returning To The GC

Cowabunga, dudes.

Surely we aren’t the only ones who have secretly daydreamed of becoming a world-famous surfer? Whether it was our adolescent obsession with Blue Water High or uber cool athletes like Stephanie Gilmore and Mick Fanning (I mean come on, he punched a shark!), we’ve always been drawn to surfing.

This Australia Day long weekend, the 2018 Flight Centre Burleigh Pro is returning to our pristine shores to showcase the world’s best surfers (as well as some impressive local talent) in a 4-day battle for greatness. As Queensland’s stand-alone World Surf League (WSL) Qualifying Series (QS) event, the festival-style weekend is earmarked as one of the biggest surf comps in Australia whereby some of the best male and female surfers from around the world will compete for precious Qualifying Series points as well as a cool $15k.

In its biggest year yet, Surfing Queensland CEO Adam Yates is excited for the display attendees can expect.

“The Burleigh Pro has always been one of the biggest and most exciting events on the Surfing Queensland calendar. This year we have made some major changes to the site precinct as well as adding lots of entertainment that will really benefit both the competitors and the wider community.”

More than just an awesome display of local and international talent, the weekend is also the chance for attendees to get up-close and personal with the surfing community of the Gold Coast. Their range of VIP & Hospitality tickets mean that you can enjoy the best views of the comp (from a luxe shaded marquee) as well as a range of delicious eats and drinks – because a surf comp is obviously best enjoyed with a beer in hand. Enjoy panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and watch uninterrupted as some of the best surfers in the world take to the waves.

If there’s a more Australian way to spend the Australia Day weekend, we don’t know it!

When she's not at the beach, she can be spotted lusting after makeup she can't afford, re-watching The Office (the US version, obviously) or annoying her friends with her insane astrology theories (she's an Aquarius, FYI).
